Facebook Strikes Again
CNN is reporting about a case in Florida which again reminds us of the dangers of Facebook.
According to CNN, the head of a Florida school sued the school for age discrimination. The case settled, but almost immediately, the plaintiff’s daughter posted about the settlement on Facebook: “Mama and Papa Snay won the case against Gulliver. Gulliver is now officially paying for my vacation to Europe this summer. SUCK IT.”
The post was sent to the daughter’s 1200 Facebook followers and soon after, school officials got word about the post. Because the settlement agreement was confidential, the school argued that the plaintiff breached the agreement and was not entitled to the settlement payment. The Court of Appeals agreed. Thus, because of a Facebook post, this plaintiff lost out on a settlement.
