Matt Weinick Selected as Law School Instructor

Famighetti & Weinick, PLLC partner, Matt Weinick, has been selected as an instructor for a new course offering at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University.

According to the school’s website, the Foundational Lawyering Skills class will “provide students with a basic introduction to core lawyering skills essential to effective practice in a variety of areas (trial practice, litigation, transactional lawyering, alternative dispute resolution, etc.) and an assessment of their performance of entry-level competencies in those areas. Students will learn how to perform essential lawyering skills, practice those skills, and have their performance assessed.” The website further notes that second year students will be required to take the course during their fall semester. As an instructor for the new course, Weinick will watch law students practice skills such as negotiation and witness examinations and offer critiques of the students’ performances.

On his appointment, Weinick stated, “I’m thrilled to return to Hofstra, this time to use my real life lawyering experience to help the law students mature into successful practicing attorneys.” Weinick will be working with a small section of students on Friday mornings in October, so he will remain available to the firm and his clients on a full-time basis.
